‘Death Coming to the Middle’ is an Arabic TV drama, first appeared on the screens in the late 90’s. (It may still come on today as a repeat on some channels). When it first hit the screens on the Arabic satellite channel- Mbc, I tuned in, found it interesting and followed all of its 24 episodes. I absolutely loved it. It later appeared on another channel and later to another and another and I watched it all again and again. I literally watched it everytime it appeared on box. Then came a time where it was off the screens for a while and I totally missed it. Surprisingly it made a return AGAIN! And I sat and watched.
It is a great TV drama. The Arabs are known for the amount of TV dramas they make which mainly involves actors/actresses from Syria and Egypt as one of the best. I’m not a big fan, I’m very critical of most of them but in my view this one is different and it stands out. I personally think it is the best Arabic TV drama of all time. Many will disagree, it did not attract many, and there was no big hype about it. Saying that I also think it's underrated.
Death Coming to the Middle tells the story of a beautiful, safe city which is taken over by a gang of bandits. The story refers to the Israeli occupation of Arab territories. A classic, amazing but maybe a usual story. Scenes and acting are great, so too are the actions but not so much physically. Music is excellent.
I’m a very big fan of the show and only later last year I somehow found a website where I managed to download the episodes. (Except 6 and 23 sadly) once again I watched them all for the thousandths time I think!
And so I came up with this huge and ambitious idea of having the chance to first get the permission from whoever produced and directed the show if they’d like to have it 'remade' for it to hit the cinema screens! (raise your eyebrows) Should I get the go ahead, I can then ask the big guys and experts if they’re up for it and I then might be able to work alongside them, which would be fantastic! Yes it is not easy and it’s a lot to ask for. But I think it will be awesome! Fingers crossed.
