Concept/narrative
Many people in this world would probably want to live a happy, peaceful life with no public and global interruptions. But that is not the case today nor has it been the case for plenty of the years that have past. So many serious, terrible causes are secretly/non-secretly occurring in this world and not a lot are aware of that. The causes consist of severe crimes, deaths, terrorism, unnecessary wars, poverty, conspiracies, lies etc. Some people care and some don’t, some are aware and some aren't… I care and am aware though and sadly it depresses me sometimes hearing and watching sad stories come out everyday. The ones who care, fear and worry for those poor people. Unfortunately we may not be able to do much about it to help. Maybe prayers and charity events are our only hope. But the ones who can help, come up with a solution and considered reliable for this are doing the opposite. I’m a late ‘realiser and developer’ shall we say, in being one who cares and knowing whatever’s happening in this world and how unpleasant It’s been. That’s a worry for me but I’ve picked up on a lot of info and knowledge about it yet there’s further more to know still.
I became the ‘realiser’ or let's say: 'I've opened my eyes' since the outrageous attacks on Gaza, Palestine –27-12-2008. It hurt me as well as many others and I’ve taken it personally. Beyond that point, I attended events relating to this, demonstrations, and protests, debated and discussed with people.
I also would like to bring up the issue of people today (especially youths) being less educated, cannot and/or don’t read, not being aware of what’s most important, being wasteful. E.g. - I attended two Pro Palestinian demonstrations in London and Birmingham. Those were very emotional times in my view and I expected the attendees to feel the same but no! Some looked like partying and laughing; they preferred action and entertainment than supporting and aiding. That isn't a good image. However though there are some bright people out there but it’s just their ignorance that’s holding them back.

Deliverables
My objective for this project is to repeat what many like us have been trying to explain and trying to prove to the people of this corrupt world but in a visual and creative way. I want to make this encouraging and influential, I'd like this to result in having the opportunity to help the suffering people who are desperately in need in places such as Iraq, Afghanistan, Palestine, Africa etc and possibly make a change. I will be making an animation and a few posters to assist the animation. I would also like to make several shirt designs; printed on them will be strong messages on this world, politics and life. The shirts at the show will only be for the show. More will be printed and they will be up for sale after.
Influences
Books on politics and history, music/songs on this issue, lyrics, different newspapers and journals to compare their views and headlines, videos, documentaries, surveying and asking the public, non-biased facts from knowledgeable people, designers such as: Jonathan Barnbrook, Banksy. Design agencies such as: MK12, Mainframe, Beautiful TV, historical art movements, - for style… and more to be looked at in the process...
How are you going to make the above?
Due to the animation requiring a lot to be done and is very ambitious; I’d like it to be viewed on a big screen, a projector possibly. Posters will be A1 sheets hanging from above. And the printed shirts will be in a framed glass and hanged on the wall.
Why is it a worthy concept?
It is a worthy concept because it relates to a strong global issue and this is my first of many attempts to make a change, help and wake up the ones who are not realizing the really awful situations occurring in this world and for us to unite together, join and support this act.

Faisal - this makes interesting reading. Try to be a little more subjective about the issues. There is a tendency, in your writing to make sweeping statements. Despite which side is right and that is not for me to judge, there is suffering on both sides. Maybe this could be something you explore.
ReplyDeleteFor the Reform project I have paired you up with Faye, who is an experienced design student. She is not going to be able to attend the sessions so you will have to work really hard to establish a relationship and generate ideas through emails and blogs. Best of luck.
